Almond trees

Nut bushes are easy to grow and the nuts provide a nutritious addition to the diet and lend variety to the fruit garden.  They also create useful wildlife habitats while their colourful catkins brighten up late winter days.   Eat green in September or collect and store for winter use.  Generally cross pollination is required.

Almond

Sweet almond trees (Prunus dulcis) are a delight for their display of soft pink blossom in early Spring. Harvestable quantities of nuts can be gathered in Autumn once the nutcase splits open. Plant in a sheltered sunny site to protect against late frosts.
