Apricot trees

Apricots are much hardier than is often realised and thanks to modern breeding there are now far more reliable apricot tree varieties available for growing in the UK - making them a productive crop to grow.

Apricots are suitable for growing as free standing bushes in favoured locations or, more commonly, as fans on south/south west walls or fences. Apricot trees flower early so be prepared to cover the trees with fleece on frosty nights when in blossom. Although self-fertile, all apricots benefit from additional hand pollination to improve crops. The apricot trees available to buy from Carrob Growers are mainly grown on Torinel rootstock.
